How Can You Pay at Target?

The good news is Target accepts most credit cards. You can use cards from any of the four major credit card providers: Visa, Discover, MasterCard, and American Express.

Does Target Take Apple Pay?

Apple Pay allows you to use your iPhone or Apple Watch (instead of a credit card) to pay for your purchases. Target now accepts Apple Pay and other contactless payment methods such as:

  • Mobile phone digital wallets including Samsung Pay and Google Pay;
  • Payment-enabled wearables including Fitbit Pay;
  • Contactless credit cards where you don’t need to swipe your card.

When using a contactless payment method such as your Apple Watch or a contactless credit card, all you need to do is hold the item over the card screen and wait until you see and hear a confirmation that the payment was successfully processed. Once you see the acceptance, proceed by following the instructions on the screen.

Other Target Payment Methods

Target accepts all major credit cards and several contactless payment methods. But if you’d rather avoid maxing out your card, you’ll be happy to know Target accepts other payment types, including:

Can You Pay for Your Store Purchases With a Target Gift Card?

Yes, you can pay with your Target gift card. You can also use third-party gift cards, such as the ones you can buy with a Visa, Discover, American Express, or MasterCard logo. Paying with a gift card at Target is like using a credit card minus the bill at the end of the month. You can use the gift card’s available balance to cover the full purchase without having to worry about overspending.

Target RedCard

The Target RedCard is the retailer’s store card. There are three RedCard options to choose from: a debit card, store credit card, or MasterCard. The difference between the store card and the MasterCard is flexibility — the MasterCard can be used for purchases anywhere MasterCard is accepted. The Target RedCard is a store credit card and can only be used at Target or Target.com.

Any of the three RedCards come with exclusive perks. Perks include 5% savings on all Target purchases, free shipping on most eligible Target.com products, and extended return times that allow you to return or exchange items for 60 days (instead of 30). Shoppers can also pay their store card balances at the store’s customer service section before they leave.

Is WIC Assistance Accepted at Target?

Single parents, children, and families struggling financially have access to nutritious meals through WIC (women, infants, and children) Assistance. WIC is one of the many welfare programs available and helps individuals and families with groceries.

WIC is only accepted in certain states, and Target stores in authorized states may be eligible. In many cases, the location must be a SuperTarget store. It’s best to check by calling your local Target to confirm.

Does Target Accept EBT?

WIC acceptance may be limited by state and retail store, but Target accepts EBT at all their store locations.
